FAQ
.
HOW DOES LIP AUGMENTATION WORK?
It is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips by injecting hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body and injecting this into the lips will improve the appearance of your lips by adding:
- Shape
- Structure
- Volume
- Definition
Once the gel is injected the filler supports and shapes the tissues of the lips.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
You can return to day to day activities straight away. Post treatment advice expects some degree of swelling and tenderness which would settle within a few days. Bruising is likely and would take approximately 7-10 days to resolve.
DOES IT HURT?
A topical numbing cream will be applied to the lips before the procedure which helps manage any discomfort you may feel and most dermal fillers contain ‘Lidocaine’ a numbing agent. Dental blocks are offered.
IS THE TREATMENT SAFE?
Your safety is our main concern, you will by treated by an accredited medical nurse practitioner. The safest injecting techniques will be used.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
Time is taken to assess your lips and plan your outcome with the overall aim of a natural appearance. Making sure the procedure is carried out as pain free as possible, topical numbing cream is applied firstly for 15-30 minutes or dental block if chosen. Injecting the lips takes time and this will not be rushed approximately the procedure will take 60 minutes.
WILL I SEE RESULTS QUICKLY?
Yes, instantly results will be noticeable however there will be a degree of swelling from the injections, the lips will feel larger than they actually are initially. It will take approximately 5-7 days for the filler to settle into the lip tissue and results will just improve as the gel softens. A two week review appointment is offered to look at the actual results.
WHO CAN HAVE THE TREATMENT?
This treatment is for both men and women over the age of 18 years following a medical assessment.
Lip fillers are not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women as hyaluronic acid has not been tested for safety during pregnancy or nursing mothers.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
Results tend to last around 6-9 months. Over the months the dermal filler will slowly degrade naturally and fullness will be lost; this is then a time to reconsider further treatment.
