What are the benefits of lip filler?
Lip filler is used to create lips that are full of volume and plumpness. As we age our lips can become thinner and lose definition, so lip filler can:
- Increase lip volume
- Improve lip contour
What is Lip Filler?
There are different types of lip fillers available, we use Hyaluronic acid (HA) based filler. This is a natural substance found inside the human body. Its key properties are to keep the skin hydrated whilst adding plumpness. HA naturally breaks down in the body during metabolism and is then replaced. However, as we get older and our metabolism slows down, replacement of HA is less often which results in less hydrated skin and less volume in the skin.
Once lip filler is injected, the gel in the filler supports and shapes the tissues of the lips.
How long will the results last?
The results are instant and the lifespan can depend on each type of lip filler and the thickness of the ‘gel’ used. On average the effect can be seen for 6-9 months.
What is the cost of treatment?
Lip enhancement treatment costs vary and depend upon each patient’s individual requirements. For lip injections, as a guide, 0.5ml syringes start at £175.
Are there any side effects?
We always make it clear during consultation that patients should expect a certain level of swelling and bruising, though this is usually minor and usually settles down in the first few days.
With it being a medical procedure, rare side effects can occur, so it is important to make sure your aesthetician has the appropriate medical training and accreditation to perform these treatments and prevent these rare occurrences.
